“LOKALS ONLY”
His name is Nick, he’s the owner of the building. Not actually, but if you know Nick Perry you prolly know he’s a big fan of Mac Dre and West Coast rap like E-40 and Smoov-E. If you’ve been to New Smyrna Beach, there’s a good chance you’ve seen one of his bricks on Flagler. He’s a buddy of mine, and he’s taking his photography to the next level.
Back in the day, Nick moved to New York and worked under some well known photographers. Building his skillset in the professional/commercial environment. He picked up quite a bit.
He returned to New Smyrna and is now making his own visions come to life. A huge undertaking, that requires a lot of collaboration.
Most people have no concept of all the moving parts. So prepare for a small glimpse behind the scenes of this production.

Fake Color for the Win
Ahh, yes, the 7 second exposure… Surpringly these colors arent that embellished. Mostly just boosting the whites gets me this sort of result.

David wasn’t the only one that played a pivotal role in this production. In fact, I’m not sure it could have helped without the help from Annie, Philomena, Karina, and Janelle.

FUJI COLOR IS REAL
You may be thinking, “bro, why are your photos so saturated?” Well, my friend, take a look at this example of an edit. Sometimes I’ll cheat and bump the vibrance or nudge the tint, but I always end up having to reduce the saturation. The colors Fuji produces are insane, and I love them so much more than Sony’s.

I’m really glad I got the opportunity to capture the essence of this project. These are moments that can never be replicated, and that’s my favorite thing to shoot. You had to be there.
Artists are special and should be protected at all costs. The idea of living vicariously is something I support, and I hope this gives a sense of being there.
This projet is ongoing, so follow Nick on Instagram to get updates along the way.
